Mardi Himal Trek

Leading towards the small winding paths along with the rhododendron forests, Mardi Himal Trek is a relatively easy trek. This trek en-routes through the beautiful Annapurna Region. It is a gem of a trek that was officially opened in 2012 and is still intact. There are limited teahouses with basic facilities even at high altitudes. The journey lets you explore the natural and cultural diversity of the trek along with the lifestyle of the locales residing here.

Wildering across the forests at an elevation around 3300m, the landscapes change abruptly into a mountainous landscape. The trek offers majestic views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhare Himal (Fishtail Mountain), Annapurna South, Lamjung, Manaslu and Hiunchuli. For the spectacular close up views of the Mardi Himal, you can climb up to Mardi Himal Base Camp in about 3-4 hours. The views of the Annapurna ranges would simply take your breath away. Moreover, you would not want to miss the close encounter with the beautiful snow capped mountains.

Initiating the journey from Pokhara, the trek further leads you to Phedi through a short drive. Hiking through the villages, you get to know about the unique cultures of the locales. The major ethnic groups residing here are the Brahmins, Chhetris and Gurungs. With their utmost hospitality reflecting their unique culture, you will enjoy every bit of your stay here. Ascending the hill, walking through the rhododendron forest, the trek just gets amazing.

Mardi Himal Trek also exhibits the fusion of Hinduism and Buddhism culture. The trek displays the picturesque view of the local village inhabited by the friendly locals. During the trek, you pass through small streams, suspension bridges and forests mixed with little adventures each day.

Best time to visit

Autumn and Spring season are the best time for the trek as there is less chance of weather fluctuations. However, trekking during the monsoon can become hectic and these are the times when the leeches are active!
